I believe they are now coming back to their roots because Obama as woke up the Conservative base. I think this is a perfect example of the people getting voted out of office because they went against the will of those who voted them in.

Of course some of it is just politics but I truly believe that the GOP is starting to get back to what made them successful and connect with the American people. That is smaller government.

I don't know, when was the last time the GOP was actually a fiscally conservative party? Ford? Nixon? Sure as heck not Reagan, the guy who's entire idea behind winning the cold war was spending such insane amounts of money that the USSR would never be able to keep up.

It worked? Are you trying to tell me that Reagan knew the Soviet Union would collapse if he spent $ like crazy? That is giving a little too much credit to something that was wholly unpredictable. Reagan thought military spending would keep the U.S. ahead of the U.S.S.R and that was the best way to keep the U.S. safe but no one knew the Soviet Union was going to fall apart the way it did....
Your ignorance is painful to witness.....

Even if it was a clever plan that he knew would worked, spending like crazy to win the cold war and running up the deficit, does not make Reagan a fiscal conservative.

There was also the premise the communism was a terrible economic system one that was rotten and could not compete against capitalism. I think many factors lead to the downfall of communism, the runup of defense spending by the US probably had a minor role at most.
