I'm not happy with the killing of most anyone, but what does my opinion or any American's have to do with what happened?

Our opinion matters because we elected the people doing it. Obama first said they weren't going after him and no boots on the ground. Then he did the exact opposite. I am not blaming the entire lie on him, but he was the spokesman for it. Now, sharia law is becoming the new government there. Which was worse?

Our foreign diplomacy has worked this way as long as I can remember. The basic problem of any Democracy is a limited term presidency thus NO WAY to implement long term goals . How can the King or Shah or tribal leader trust someone(American) who at best is around for under a decade ? or less ? The book by Tenet is really interesting as he details the way peace agreements are ''negotiated'' -saying things like ''the Israelis and the Pakistanis yelled and screamed at one another ''. That is what they do . There was nothing Anglo-Saxon about it .''
the inside view is very different than what you read in the papers .
You know, I think I would rather be a man than a god . We don't need anyone to believe in us. We just keep going anyhow. It's what we do.

Sorry I am seriously out of touch. I thought he was killed (basically executed) at the hands of Lybyans.

Ultimately, that is how he was killed.

Correct. Ultimately his own people killed him. But the UN bombed and provided weapons and put troops on the ground to make it happen. Since the UN is basically ran by the USA, I think our opinion matters. Honestly, I would like for us to get out of the UN, but that probably won't happen.

the UN is just a bastardization of Woodrow Wilson's NWO league of Nations . Read the UN's history-totally worthless until the US enforces policy and , personally , I HATE being the world's police force . I see NO reason american soldiers should die intervening in some pissant skirmish in some country no one has ever heard of .

Did any US soldiers die in Libya?

I hadn't heard on that and I did not even know we had "boots on the ground"

It seems ridiculous to criticize Obama over his handling on Libya. I don't see how things could have turned out much better. Nasty dictator dead and gone at minimal cost, minimal lives lost (on the US side), no ill will generated towards the US, along with Nato allies doing most of the work. Lets compare these reuslts to Iraq.

So what if they have Sharia. It does not effect the US, if the new regime starts exporting terrorism that is another matter, but Ghaddafi was the guy that practically invented State sponsored terrorism.

I don't honestly know the answer to that. I thought I had heard about a helicopter crash, but not totally sure.

Boots were definitely on the ground. I can find the proof for you tomorrow, right now I am too tired to look anything up. (just got done with a 4hr f-ing homework assignment).

Here's the problem. Obama said that this was a UN, not US mission. The mission was not to kill Ghadaffi. It was because he was a nasty dictator who was inhumane to his own people. Then, after Ghadaffi was killed, Obama took credit for it. So did he lie before or after the mission? Please, I beg of you, look up sharia law. Don't come back with the peaceful muslim crap either. They stone women who talk to men on the street that they are not related to. Women have absolutely NO rights at all. Men are not free either. Anyone who claims to be a christian or just claims NOT to be a muslim is also subject to death. I can't even fathom how people think it is peaceful. Ghadaffi may have been bad, but does this sound like the Libyan people are better off? I beg of you not to come back with something silly like, "That doesn't happen. It's only the extremists" b/c anyone who agrees with sharia law IS an extremist.

Lets compare these reuslts to Iraq.
Compare away, if you wish. This isn't an Obama vs. Bush thing. They both did the same thing. But if you want to compare Iraq and Libya, go ahead. Libyans are now being ruled by sharia law and once we are out of Iraq, so will they.

So what if they have Sharia. It does not effect the US
WOW!!! And I thought liberals loved civil rights. I guess stoning women for showing skin below the knee is cool with you. Hey, you can have your own opinion. I think women should have the same rights as men. But you sound much more sane (sarcasm intended) by just saying, "So what if they have sharia." In fact, if sharia doesn't matter, why did what Ghadaffi did matter? I thought this whole mission was humanitarian. Doesn't sound very humanitarian to me. Sounds like the UN just wanted to put in who they wanted and didn't really care about the Libyans. But, like you said, Who cares about them worthless women or christians or atheists or agnostics or anyone who dares to think for themselves. It doesn't affect the US!
