Russ, I don't agree with everything you say but I am 100% on board with this. We send hundreds of millions of dollars to countries that want to end our existence. It needs to stop.

    Flop-
Anyone who agreed with every thing I say is someone I'd not like to spend time with-most of the stuff I post is my trying to illicit a response as all i know is I know very little.
With our infrastructure crumbling and our economy in ruins i really think we need to reign in our foreign policy-especially in the mid -east as there seems to be no end to the ethnic hatred and fighting. IMO we should let them sort out their own problems.

All right, Russ. I've let you get away with a lot of sh1t on this site without saying anything, but this time you have GONE TOO FAR! I cannot, and will not let this slide.

elicit vs illicit : Common Errors in English

    elicit Meaning(s)
    (v) call forth (emotions, feelings, and responses)
    (v) deduce (a principle) or construe (a meaning)
    (v) derive by reason

    illicit Meaning(s)
    (a) contrary to accepted morality (especially sexual morality) or convention
    (s) contrary to or forbidden by law

Let's not let this happen again. I will be watching!

What quote are you referring to?

Your original post, the way I read it says:

    1. Some radical Islamic literature was found in US mosques. This is not surpirising. It says nothing about how many mosques this was found in. I am sure radical/hateful literature can be found in churches
    2. The Saudis reply that they are trying to overhaul their education system, but have not been completely successfull yet. I don't see anything controversial about this\.
    3. The IPSU while claiming that the study was not well done and not truly representative of American Muslims warns its leader to beware aware of this type of radicalism while at the same time reaffriming its belief in the first ammendment.

I did not go to any of the links, so maybe I am missing something, but the chance of radical Islam (wahhabism) being any real threat in the US is perposterous.

To address your contention that most terrorist are US educated I am going to call BS. I know that some of the 911 hijackers attended college in the US. But most of the terrorists we are concerned with are the guys the are suicide bombers in Iraq or Afghanistan I have heard no reports that any of these a-holes were US educated or trained.

It seemed that Russ was condeming the US student Visa program while you are questioning US foriegn aid to countries whose population is often anti-American.
I think the foriegn aid policy is tricky... I could see how sometimes it is desirable to support a leader who has some pro-American leanings even though the US is not popular in the country.

However, I strongly feel the US student visa program is a huge benefit for our country is every way. It enriches our country while letting the best and brighest from around the world get a personal experience in the US, which is overwhelmingly positive. I'll concede that a miniscule percentage may end up hating the US.

The first is from November 08, available here.
EM: In fact, you know, when the US invaded Afghanistan in 2001, they claimed that there were over twenty 'terrorist training camps' as they called them, they were all training terrorists to go and attack America. Well, this is an absolute lie. One among many.

Most of the training camps, 90% of the people in the training camps were either Kashmiris being trained by Pakistani Intelligence Service, the ISI, with full American knowledge, to go an fight in Kashmir against Indian rule. That was the biggest group, and the second biggest group were people from Central Asia, mainly Uzbekistan and Khazakistan and Tajikistan who were being organized and trained to go and fight these dreadful communist regimes of Central Asia, again with full American knowledge.

And finally there were a group of Uighurs - Chinese muslims from Xinjiang province in Western China who were being trained by Bin Laden to go and fight the communist Chinese in Xinjiang, and this was not only with the knowledge, but with the support of the CIA, because they thought they might use them if war ever broke out with China.
This is from AGAINST ALL ENEMIES-MOST of the guys higher up on the food chain are US educated or sponsored..

always oppose" infidels "in every way", but "hate them for their religion ... for Allah's sake", that democracy "is responsible for all the horrible wars of the 20th century",
these are the quotes I was referring to..

    ODH,
the entire post was copied from wikipedia-I copied both sides of the arguement-thus the ?? about Wahhabism-where did I say anything about student visas ? One side is saying Islamic fundalism is about HATE and the other says it is blown out of proportion-the only thing about any education is said by the saudi government...
