But, it seems like he goes out of his way to book guests with either huge egos or ridiculous arguments. - flop

Correct; however, he has people on there that are combating child molesters, that are experts in immigration, abortion experts (both sides), military personel, Democrat reps, all kinds of social and political individuals. He does give them opportunity topresent their opinion (he shuts them off when they avoid the question or jump on a soap-box - as he should). It is a short piece, he has to cater to his viewers so he has to keep the discussion on topic with no "hot air". I think he does an awesome job of keeping it from running amuck.

And if you believe in most of the conservative opinions, you are a mindless puppet.

Well, I'm glad we solved that. I guess we can burn the books written by Oakeshott, Buckley, Friedman, and others.

I live in an area where 95% of the people are strong conservatives and that's what they pretty much are. Mindless puppets that are not open to any other opinion other than what they are being fed by the Republicans.

And I live in an area where 95% of the people are liberals. So what? Are they all mindless puppets, or have they formed their own opinion?

You and others seem to think that you're smart enough to see through BS, but no one else is. You think people who live in Texas are stupid, and you've pretty much written off anyone who is a conservative, by using Ted Nugent and O'Reilly as stand-ins for all of conservative thought. That would be like me saying that liberals are stupid just because Janeane Garofolo and the Dixie Chicks are liberal.

They are paid to entertain, and to take one side of the argument.

Glad you admit that. Yet, people like ctc take him seriously.

How do we separate news from entertainment? Or is there no distinction? When we voters and our representatives are tasked with making a decision on public policy, how do we stay reasonably informed if we are being showered by one-sided arguments (think if we had to make decisions based solely on political ads--another version of what OReilly and (I expect) Olberman do).

Well, they would be stupid if they turned to these entertainers as primary source of news, accepted their opinions without question, and repeated them as if they were their own--which is 118's critique.

No, 118 said this: "And if you believe in most of the conservative opinions, you are a mindless puppet"

You are saying something completely different. I agree with what you said.

If anyone believes that O'Reilly is a "news" show, then I agree that they are missing the mark. Having said that, just because something is entertaining doesn't mean that it is bereft of value.

Yes, I take him seriously. He is a serious news commentator (with some entertainment value. O'Reilly does give opposing opinion a voice so both sides are presented. That is great for all. Some are smart enough to reconize it and take advantage of it. Others.....well, I won't comment about that.

BTW - still waiting on that "evidence". (don't try to pawn off opinion as evidence anymore)

I gave you the evidence, which you refuse to accept. But here you are, baiting and pimping again for another response. What an friggin' a-hole.

Oh yes, here is clone's "evidence" with my response. Big scoop - opinions are NOT evidence.

Too funny. That is what you call "evidence". Hey, I need a partner for a real estate deal.

Otherwise, see Bonnie's subjective impressions and comments on specific technique used by OReilly on page 1 and page 4 of this thread. - clone

How about some evidence, not a liberal opinion. You MUST know the difference.

    See doublej's impressions. - clone

"Impressions"?????? Are you writing a joke book? Impressions are not evidence but rather a fancy term for "opinion".

See my link to Cole's experience with OReilly on page 1. - clone

    Nay, 3 strikes - you're OUT!!!
