I took it as a general statement of liberals. My examples are why people like myself get disgusted with government oversight. Just let us be, man....just let us be!!

You know what I also find interesting? Hippies back in the 60's were against government and all the stupid rules. Now, liberals somehow try to (and have succeeded) in getting people like that to believe in more government. I guess tea partiers would be today's hippies. Just like when a republican freed the slaves, but now the democrat party is considered the black party. And why is it considered liberal to sanction so many aspects of life? These are all things that puzzle me.

I think the problem in general is that politicians all feel the need to "do something" in order to justify their existence and to get re-elected. "Doing something" usually entails securing funding for pet projects, writing (or voting on) some sort of legislative action, and showing how indispensable they are (in a broad sense).

An anti-government politician is a rare thing.

I do agree with you that it is comical that lefties now embrace big government. They love the teet.
