Obama picks Nobel man for Energy
Barack Obama has named physics Nobel Prize winner Steven Chu as his energy secretary and tasked him with finding alternatives to fossil fuels.

The US president-elect said the new administration's priorities were to end US dependence on foreign oil and fight climate change.

Naming his environment team, he said US energy dependence had grown even as global resources were disappearing.

Mr Obama has pledged to make big changes in environmental policies.

After eight years, he said, the US could not accept more broken promises when the new administration took over on 20 January.

I for one am just glad to see science given a place at the table.

Great to see that we are going to develop new ways to fuel ourselves, still think nuclear and drilling in our own darn country need to be exploited as well......

No doubt we need to continue to utilize existing technology and domestic fossil fuels during the alternative fuel developement stage.

We can also figure out ways to make coal fired power plants cleaner. Not to mention upgrading our power grid to make it more efficient.

I'm not convinced that climate change has anything to do with human activity, but I am convinced that we can and should be working to find energy sources that produce less pollution. Just as I believe that we should do what we can to limit our impact on nature in general.

There is clean coal, they can make coal material from biomass, look it up its great!!! Clean coal is amazing, it looks like rabbit pellets haha. I like the portable mini nuke reactors, that would cut down on powergrid usage.

I'm all for less pollution but same as you I don't believe in man made global warming. I think its the big sun in the sky!!
