Default Christian vs. Non-Chirstian: Who Gets Into Heaven?

    An interesting video-

Christian vs. Non-Chirstian: Who Gets Into Heaven?

If we don't fight hard enough for the things we stand for, at some point we have to recognize that we don't really stand for them.

IMO, it is nonsensical for non-Christians to argue that they have a chance to get into the Christian heaven using Biblical arguments.

But it does make sense for non-Christians to point out the errors in Christians' interpretation of their own Bible.

A friend of mine, who could only be described as an orthodox catholic once said that it is one's actions and deeds that get them to heaven, not so much one's devotion to God/Jesus.

That is the classic faith vs works argument....I figure that since that they are both in the Bible, they are both valid.

It is my belief, and I feel it is pretty undeniable, that everyone and every living creatures life energy rejoins the source upon death. You can call that life energy a soul if you wish, or a spirit or whatever, but once it has rejoined the source it is no longer a separate identifiable individual, it is part of the source again. You can call rejoining the source going to heaven if you wish, there is no such thing as hell.

Not going to comment on the video since I didn't watch it... but I think that the Christian scriptures, while they teach alot about judgement and the afterlife, are less clear on what exactly hell is or who goes there than we would like them to be. The "Christians go to heaven, everyone else burns forever" view is a common one but hardly the only view held even by traditional theologians and Christian leaders.

My own view is similar to that of CS Lewis, in that all persons get ample opportunity to accept God's grace and forgiveness (which is not neccesarily equivalent to believing in Christian doctrines). Hell is the "darkness outside" for those that refuse to have anything to do with God or His kingdom. My beliefs also allow for the possibility of Origen-syle universalism, where those in hell might eventually turn back to God and be welcomed into heaven.
