Wish it would have hit right in the forehead.
I remember when they were using shoes to hit Bathists and Saddam statues.
If it were still Saddam's Iraq, that man and his family would have been tortured and killed before the sun set.
He should thank Bush for his freedom to speak out.
I call that progress......(winning the war).
I heard tonight that he could be heard screaming from being beaten after they took him out and he hasn't been seen since.

Some of the things being done to people right now in Iraq are unspeakable. It's just not sanctioned by the state anymore.
According to other accounts it was American Security forces, i.e. secret service who kept the Iraqi's from beating the man at the time of the shoe throwing.
Some are saying that his actions are simply those of a free person expressing his feelings in a free society. He was one of many Iraqi's who we didn't do a very good job of convincing that we were liberators, and not engaged in an occupation. His sign off line for his news reports was "From Occupied Baghdad, this is _____". I don't approve of the action, but I can certainly appreciate his frustration and anger at Mr. Bush.
It's a little bit disconcerting from a security standpoint that the guy was able to get two throws off like that. Presumably the men were checked for weapons so he couldn't have thrown a grenade at the president, but perhaps a rock or something else potentially dangerous?
