    I also forgot to add from last night's ramble (I was a bit "under the weather") that the ethanol industry is also hugely subsidized. For every gallon produced, ethanol manufacturers are given .46 cents in subsidy.

    This is where the bulk of the corn is going to right now in Iowa, and part of the reason why corn prices are so high right now.

    Thank you Ban. I will try to find the movies you suggested. I never really did get the whole thing, because where I live, they are small farms. I definitely don't underestand it all yet, but I will check out what you provided.

    "The Omnivours Dilema" by Michael Pollan has pretty good (and relatively short) discussion on changes in farm subsidy policy and the effects on our food system.
    There's no such thing as a pretty good aligator wrestler.

    I would guess that you probably have a subsidy program affecting farms in Ohio, but obviously on a much smaller scale than Iowa.

    You'd definitely have the CRP program in operation.
