Thread: When will the war end?

The cost, 720 million dollars a day and the loss of life and lives ruined through severe injury. Yet Osama is still around and continues to mock us and tries to drive the fear level up. He cannot defeat us through strenght or numbers and he knows this. So how does he think that he will win?

I belive that he has taken his plan of attack right out of Ronald Regans playbook. He is attempting to bring us down economically just like we did to the soviets. We are spending ourselves into second rate nation status while China, India, and perhaps the Eu are getting ready to blow right by us. We will soon lose our status as the worlds only remaining superpower to becoming just an after thought.

Think about that next time you get all worked up about the terrorist threat of the day. He is playing us and he is winning. When some wacko sitting in a cave in some remote mountain region has the power to do this to America then something has gone terribly wrong with America.

Why hasn't the US invaded Venezuela or Canada yet?

I was under the impression that the Middle Easterners like the U.S.'s money. We do pay for the oil, right? Their pure religious beliefs go out the window when they see all of the U.S. green.

This isn't about one evil man in a cave.

It's a world wide movement against western civilization.

It's been around a long time (long before Bush) and it won't just go away if we leave Iraq.

OBL and others like him are not just trying to scare us...he's trying to kill us.

This isn't fear mongering, it's the truth.

I hope we realize it before it's too late.

Even Bill Clinton recognized the threat of Islamic extremist.

    Flop,

Does or does not US have an agreement with Saudis to keep their Kings and Princes in charge in return for selling oil mostly for dollars? That would explain the happiness factor.

Big, I distrust the Saudis as much as any other ME country, so you're asking the wrong person to justify our relationship with them.

So if we "win" in Iraq then the threat is over?

The terror is very disappointing but not shockingly surprising. American "success" today is built on things like illegal immigration, cheap foreign labor, suspicious pacts with the Saudis, sleazy lending practices, and above all natural resources that belong to religious maniacs.

    I wish, but probably not.

But, it will help to stabilize a very dangerous region of the world.

To be very optimistic... if a new Iraq prospers culturally and economically, maybe other countries in the region use it as a model of success.

    If we lose, what happens?
