    Richard Jewell, the security guard who helped evacute Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta during the 1996 Olympics before a bomb went off -- then was later accused by the FBI of being the bomber -- was found dead in his home Wednesday. He was 44..

    I saw that. I big part of the Richard Jewell story is that he was more or less tried and convicted in "the media" before being eventually absolved (with, it seems, much less fanfare). Funny, the kangaroo court thing doesn't seem to have abated at all.

    Wonder how different the outcome would have been with all the post 9/11 Patriot Act rules that are now in place. He would be listed as an enemy combatant and never see the light of day.

    He is the posterboy for why you cannot give to much power to the police.
