I agree with Castro. This is a classic situation where FREEDOM brings evil. Cuban society is based on different values than American society. While American pay for great boxers is nice, it was the Cuban environment and its ideals that developed the boxers that are worth this money in America. Cuba produces these champions, not America.
Therefore, there need to be international laws that cannot allow defections for talent developed in one's country without the release of those organizations and governments that nurtured and developed the talent.
Otherwise, American sharks (as the article states) kill the culture and hard work of Cuban coaches and the whole system that develops these great athletes.
Maybe there is a way that Cuba and America can workout details of how Cubans can box in America for good money but still live in and represent Cuba. I don't know. But defections for a paycheck seem evil in nature.
