Obviously the second Ammendment has it's limitations, which are in the public interest. Private citizens can't own rocket launchers, but they aren't limited to bb guns either. Where along the spectrum the line is drawn is where the interpretation comes into play and where safety must be weighed against freedom.

But this is a bold faced hyjack of the gay marriage thread, so no need to answer this post.

I really do not understand the big deal over gay marriage! I mean it is a contract with the state and not a religious thing. Churches can still decide if they want/don't want to marry a gay couple in a religious ceramony.

To me this is something the federal government should butt out of and let the states decide. Just my two cents.

This may come as a surprise to many on this board but i am actually for Gay Marriage and think it should be legalized.

Hmm..... I agree. But then again I don't have a problem with that either. I do have a big problem with polygamy with minors and abuse as how it is practiced in this country now.

I am biased in ways and so are you. These judges are no different. They just have a different job.
    Wow.... we agree.

Spider i really don't get why people are against this.....a true conservative/republican shouldn't be agaist this because it is a state issue and not a federal one.

The religious right shouldn't be upset because the state governments are not saying it is a religous bond but a state bond that has nothing to do with religion. I consider myself a Christian but i really don't care if 2 guys or 2 women want to sign a contract with the state. I guess to me a christian should want two people in love to live together and treat eachother right. I guess this is my liberal side coming out

don't worry though everyone my stict conservative nature will show itself in other areas...lol

    Chance, we agree.

The job of the state is to ensure equal rights, which includes those of homosexuals. The job of the church is to apply the teachings of the Bible as best they can.

Where I live (Canada) gay marriage completely legal and I don't see how it harms society at all. I do get wary of churches who marry gay couples... I'm no expert on the Biblical teachings on sexuality, but I was raised to believe that gay marriage is against God's plan.

Ugly, I imagine that marriage and divorce law would need a lot of re-writing if polygamy became legal.

My post was a joke (like 90% of what I post), but seriously, I applaud your point of view. I believe that those opposed to gay marriage see it as a validation of what they consider a sinful or disgusting act. If you think about it, though (but not too much), plenty of heterosexual activities are disgusting to some people, and as you say, sin is a religious issue, not a governmental one.
