Quinn, I viewed your link and it is very shaky. Evolution is just not up for debate in the scientific community.
Belief in evolution doe not preclude the existance of a God. The Catholic church officially takes no position on evolution

All I'm saying is that if it were proven beyond a doubt, conversations like this wouldn't exist. No one doubts gravity and it is easily proven. But things like evolution and man-made global warming are still up for debate. I only brought it up in the first place because I thought it would be cool if a grappler like BJ Penn had thumbs on his feet.

If you all don't agree with me that's fine, but I'm not a terrorist so you can rest easy.

quinn, if you want to bury your head in the sand and deny the absolute truth of 2+2=4 or that evolution absolutely occured have at it. The article you listed did not list one legitimate non-literalist non-Christian scientist who denies evolution. To list scientist who were dead before Darwin is just plain silliness. Every rational person in the world accepts evolution as truth too. There is a list of scientist that you nutjob creationist float around. That list includes many many non-scientist and a few "real" scientist who believe there are indeed real problems with the "theory" of evolution. To believe there are problems with a theory does not equate to denying that evolution occured but rather not believing that the current theory fully captures the mechanism of evolution. Again I challenge you or anyone to fine one "real" scientist who is a non-literalist, non-Christian to agree that evolution is not true. You will not because they do not exist. Sure there are a few literalist Christian so-called scientist who reject the truth but that is because they must suspend the rational mind to believe a fantasy because some idiot preacher told them they must or they are not "real" Christian. BTW, Muslims take the old testament as literal too, so do not list a Muslim as proof. Only an idiot believe the story of Adam and Eve is anything but metaphor. What are you, idiot or not?

There is only a debate in mainstream America. That is because there are an awful lot of scientifically illiterate people in America. In the literate scientific community there is no debate about whether evolution is a fact, only what mechanisms are in play in the process of evolution. You comment about evolving from apes indicates just how scientifically illiterate you are.

Attention Sparky!! THE THUMB FOOT COMMENT WAS A JOKE!! BJ PENN IS A JUI JITSU GREAT WHO USES HIS FEET ALMOST LIKE HANDS. TO ADD THUMBS TO THOSE FEET WOULD MAKE HIM ALMOST UNSTOPPABLE. Try using your imagination every now and then.

No problem quinn. I was just pointing out facts that it appeared you did not understand about evolution. We did not evolve from apes, both the apes and we evolved from a common link at some point way back in history around half a million years ago. If you already understood that about evolution you had shown no signs of it in your posts.

I understand the argument of evolution, I just don't buy in to it.

Do you not buy into evolution because it conflicts with the Bible or because you don't trust the scientists (who are much smarter than me and probably smarter than you) who consider it the best current explanation of the accumulated observed data?

So you have a problem with the "real" world and prefer to bury you head in the sand and live in a fantasy world. Fine, as long as you don't try to dumb down anyone else or anyones children to live in your fantasy world with you. Lord, I hope you don't teach young children.
