I'm sure this is a really stupid question, but what would happen if they kept the oil off the shoreline and then just lit it on fire? Would that amount of heat/pollution cause more damage than the oil will cause as-is?

Sure its the water/oil mixing and not the fact they used dispersant? It's definitely too thin in some places but I think they could still burn off some of the thick patches
Well now that doesn't sound very accurate does it.
Here's a vid of the leak.

Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.
AM radio seems to do a pretty good job of it too.
UNI Panthers...Because it's just right.
Yep. And you guys blame Obama for everything.
Hopefully the blame game will stop until the well is capped. Obama and his administration have kept "the boot on BP's neck", held hearings, and began a lawsuit against BP, all while the oil flows. Pelosi blamed Bush, Obama blamed MMS and Birnbaum, Thomas Frank blamed the free market and de-regulation, etc...
I'd much rather they plug the well, so we can then focus on how many officials the Obama administration attempted to bribe in order for them to step down from congressional races. That story is much more fun to read about than the ongoing destruction of our natural resources.
