My point of bringing up that BaN bASKETBALL lives in Iowa was not a derogatory statement aimed @ him or the state. It was simply stating that the chances of the State of Iowa understanding the ILLEGAL immigration problems are considerably less then a border state where I have been living for most of my life.

How ANYONE can think that they can measure the amount of illegal activity across the border is simply ludicrous. She might as well have been inventing numbers. It is a guess @ best. Propaganda at worst.

My grandparents came from Europe & became citizens legally. I don't know why some people think that they are entitled to benefits of citizenship without becoming citizens or earning those benefits by the proper the legal channels.

It is such a simple thing it truly defies logic. The accusations of "racism" thrown about are a simple smokescreen trying to cover up the illegals activities. If you want to be here as a citizen or permanent resident then just do it legally.

Why should some people get to selectively break the law?

Now that's discrimination for you. If they get to come in & stay illegally then I should be able to break some law as well & get a way with it don't you think? That would be fair huh?

Ironically, I have lived in Southern California, and Arizona since 1978 and see the issue entirely different than you, and I DO have the real world experience. Oh, and I am a white guy, with a white wife, and a European immigrant background.

Would you like to explain how this can be so? Please don't play the "I am here so I know best and trump you" card. There are others who are "here" for decades, who see it differently.

I guess Scott you think it is ok that people are allowed to break the law. Pretty simple as far as I can see.

Also I see you don't mention the article, which is a total joke. If someone can show HOW they actually COUNT illegals for real I would agree but NO ONE CAN. She is as I said GUESSING @ BEST, Propaganda @ worst.

That is not what I said but if it works for you to view everything in black or white then whatever floats your boat works for me.

Exchanging an Out-of-Country License for a Maryland License, Please Bring:
    1) I didn't exchange an out-of-country license for my Maryland license so I didn't have to meet the requirements you listed.

    2) Maryland has recently changed their license requirements (I believe it happened sometime in 2009), when I got a Maryland License there was no requirement for proof of legal residence and therefor my drivers license doesn't consititute proof of legal residence and under Arizona law I could be detained if any police officer for doing pretty much anything.

That's not what I said either so instead of being so assumptive why don't clarify your view on it...

You threw out the first assumption. Otherwise, I don't care enough about partisan politics, or this issue, to get into an endless sound bite laden circular debate. I was just making an observation is all - apparently it offended you.

FWIW three, maybe four, of my students have parents who are likely here illegally. Three of them are great kids (one is a handful) who are doing well. I am rather attached to these kids - and many others through the years - and I would rather like to see them continuing to do well. I suspect that makes my view of the subject a little different than yours.

I would also add that I very likely have "illegals" living right behind me; they've been there for as long as we've owned our home, which is 13 years. Best neighbors in our neighborhood who would do anything to help you, and I would do anything to help them. In fact, we did, when our homes were mutually flooded two years ago.

Just too bad that our "legal" neighbors weren't as decent as these "criminals."
