I tried to read your commentary on the American Thinker paragraph, but it's hard to see which parts exactly you are responding too, maybe make it clearer (ie past the responses in the body of the paragraph) if you want to discuss your critique with others.
You forgot to mention Thornton's goal and the dominance of the younger, faster, and better Sharks team.

I suggest you read the opinion piece one sentence at a time and you will be able to coincide with my responses.

I wonder where the glamour twins are? Jensenottke never add to any conversation. Just flippant comments as expected from the mouth of babes.

I posted midway through the game. I agree the sharks finished the game off in impressive fashion, and I'm glad Thornton finally scored.

[QUOTE=washed up wrestler;318222]1) He "abandoned" an unproven and incredibly expensive, unproven technology. Do you fear Russia or Iran? Little or no pressure? How does the writer know what negotiations were between US and Russia and why he came to that decision?

Yes you would be smart to fear both those countries. The missle sheild wether proven or unproven was still a deterence and helped cement the relationships with the former eastern block countries who now feel we have abandoned them.
    2) What sanctions have been ignored and by whom?

Ignored by the US..Obama put deadlines in place and sanctions which were ignored this isn't false. Hell you could argue Bush was just the same in regards to Iran.
    3) Preposterous.

Just how is this preposterous? Hell the man or his admin rarely call them terrorists. In fact didn't they remove words like these from their official documents?

    4) How does the writer know what the response was? Is he privvy to some special information and if so why doesn't he share that?

Come on man open up your eyes.

    5) Out and out lie. http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/02/18/obama.dalailama/index.html

This i actually agree with you. Although at first he backed down he ended up meeting with him. very poor and misleading statement in the article.

    6) Waffling as perceived by the far right. As opposed to his predecessor, he actually sought out a variety of opinions and ultimately did exactly what the far right wanted. His "deadline" is a road map. How many decades should the US stay there and how many more billions and human lives should be sacrificed to win a war that is unwinnable in the long run?

I think you have the perception that the right wants to stay there forever. If you actually knew anything about Bush you would know he sought a variety of opinions before he did anything. The fact is Obama did waffle and in the end he did the right thing. There is nothing wrong with a roapmap but telling our enemy exactly when we are leaving is a bad idea. Politicians should never run wars (Bush made the same mistake).

    7) Why would we "cancel" the 4th Gen Raptor 22? Maybe a little more research by the writer would have provided facts, but the far right are innoculated from facts.

This was put on hold and the orders canceled right?

    8) If Obama called for further manned missions, the far right would have screamed that he should abandon it and put the billions to better use in our scientific explorations of the galaxy. Other than the space station, there is no further need for manned missions. The technology now is much cheaper and more effective in exploring space.

lol....how do you know the right would have screamed? We are still going to do manned missions to space, but we will be paying the Russians to take us. Something like 250 million a person...will have to double check that number though

    9) Missle defense is so unproven that funds would be better spent in other areas to defend our country from fear mongered armageddon.

So let me get this straight we put up the sheilds that obviously worry the Russians but since they were never tested in actual battle we should just scrap the technology and stop perfecting it?

    10) Lastly, this demagogue loses his last scintilla of credibility with his insane last opinion.

i doubt it was is primary goal but those have happened.

Yes, and there was a reason for every one of them. Obama is just a little smarter than the average Joe. A refreshing change.

This is a bit of a thread-jack, but since I'm also from NorCal and a Sharks fan, I have to chime in. This has been a nice run so far, and it's great to see Pavelski playing so well. He deserves the "C" next year, or at least as soon as Blake retires. Marleau still has his head up his butt, upright and locked. Thornton's goal was good to see, but I'd like to see him put together two or three good games in a row.

All in all, I'm loving how they are playing, and can't wait for 4:30 this afternoon. Thank god for DVRs.

Note to self - be sure to set the DVR to record one hour past the projected end of game, in the event the game goes to OT. I sat there and watched all of regulation and then only saw about one minute of OT. The Sharks won it 7 minutes into OT. D'oh!

Both San Jose and Thornton in particular are doing their best to erase their reputation as playoff underachievers. Barring a truly epic collapse, they are going to do it this round.

I used to go to most playoff games and I got tired of watching them choke. Maybe now that I just watch 'em on TV it makes a difference.

The huge difference this year is that they got some veterans who punch teams in the face. They are very versatile now and can pretty much dictate a game.

I don't want to get carried away....but the Stanley Cup may finally come here.
