I just got an email from Crain's listing the top 5 largest employers in the greater Chicago area. In order, they are:

1. US Federal Government
2. Chicago Public Schools
3. City of Chicago
4. State of IL

5. Cook County

I was quite surprised to see all 5 of the top spots occupied by government entities.

Government is too big when the Dems are in control and government is just fine when repubs are in control. Not so much as an employer but as a big brother trying to control things like a womans right to an abortion. I like the fact that the "Patriot" act gives government more ways to control Americans.

Don't worry though because non-government giant corporations will control things going forward. They will be well taken care of and the size of government isn't that important anymore.

I also like the way Texas government can now control curriculum just the way the far right wants. Who needs vouchers or charter schools when you can now control what kids learn in the public schools. I'm sure southern and other redneck states will feel it's OK to do the same thing.

Your boy, Obama reinstated the Patriot Act so don't go blaming it all on republicans. As far as the Texas schools go, did you even bother to listen to why it was only conservatives voting on the issues? Liberals were at the meetings and they all walked out before votes were cast. That left nothing but conservatives to vote on it. Don't get all huffy about people voting for their beliefs. Libs had a chance to vote, but walked out like spoiled little children when they didn't like what they were hearing. And, by the way, government was too big when republicans were running things, too. Both parties need to get over themselves and do what is right for the country, which means getting out of our way.

That is a great segment, the sad thing is that people like WUW are so partisan they will overlook all of that. I can't wait to read how he defends Obama's lies on this one. My bet is that he refers to Bush and his lies, as if two wrongs make a right.
