I'd say just about nobody from the republican party wants to run this time 'round... lol. Its not good when the most well known member of the party is more of a democrat (Rudy, for abortion, gay rights, etc) than he is a republican.

Powell and Condi and even Laura Bush could win the Republican nomination if they chose. Not a definite mind you, but good chances. I also think the Repubs have a better chance at winning the Presidency then I thought before the last elections. If the Repubs had retained control, I think whoever the Repubs ran out there would likely have gotten washed. With Dem's winning big, the public has seen that "Hey, the Dem's suck a lot too." The time is arriving much sooner then we think for an Independant candidate, me thinks. Not this Presidency, but maybe by 2016 or 2020.
