Thread: Hey Washed up

    Default Hey Washed up

A friend of mine sent me this and I found it not only accurate, but also pretty funny. I thought I would run it through a liberal's mind and see if you find it accurate or funny.

If a conservative doesn't like guns, they don't buy one. If a liberal doesn't like guns, then no one should have one.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, they don't eat meat. If a liberal is, they want to ban all meat products for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy. A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is homosexual, they quietly enjoy their life. If a liberal is homosexual, they loudly demand legislated respect.

If a black man or Hispanic is conservative, they see themselves as independently successful. Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A liberal wants any mention of God or religion silenced.

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A liberal demands that his neighbors pay for his.

If a conservative reads this, he will find it funny and email it to his friends. A liberal will be offended.

Divide. Divide. Divide. That's what I think about this. There are a lot of problems that need to be solved and we're so preoccupied with liberal and conservative that we're not working together to solve the problems, just so worried about the next election.

As a life-long conservative, I can't speak for how it would be perceived by a liberal. However, as a life-long conservative, I found it offensively simplistic and unnecessarily devisive. Reasoned discourse does not need to devolve to schoolyard taunts.

So what you're saying is that a conservative tries to improve himself, but a liberal tries to improve society. Even put that way, I agree that it's simplistic and devisive.

And stupid, like most email things of this nature are.

Coming from another person who fashions himself more conservative than liberal.

Sorry. I just found it funny. Didn't mean it as divisive or mean spirited. I was under the impression that people still had a sense of humor. Heck, I even thought Washed up would find it funny. We needn't be so touchy.

I'd imagine most people thought it might be a joke, but when something is so unfunny it does make you wonder if it is or not...

Like I said before, I did not mean to offend anybody. I even prefaced the post by saying that I thought it was funny. I have sent this to a couple of liberal friends of mine and they found it funny and even replied with a list of jabs at conservatives. There was a time when people could actually disagree, but were also able to laugh at themselves.

Washed up, my pm to you was in a joking manner. I thought your "I am satan" reply was also in jest. As was my reply to it. I figured you had a sense of humor and would simply reply as my two friends did.

To anyone who was offended, I am sincerely sorry. I can not even pretend to understand how anyone could read that silly list and get offended, but it is a free country and everyone is free to be a miserable as they like. I think that maybe political correctness has destroyed people's sense of humor. And yes, Spider, it was simplistic. Kind of like a blonde joke, I hope those aren't considered offensive now.

I found it funny -- mainly because there's some truth to it.
