With all of the serious issues we are facing, I wonder what kind of radio show would waste air time on such a trivial issue.

With all the debt we are racking up I wonder why the administration chooses to waste money on the first ladies staff.

The host briefly commented on this when he read it in the Canadian free press. It was not an entire segment only about 5 minutes of a 3 hour show.

The Constitution hasn't stopped Obama from buying free-market business's and naming a number of czars so that they don't have to be approved by the congress. I also don't think that Vietnam was ever declared a war by congress, but we were there.

The Constitution also says that people have a right to LIFE, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, yet abortion is legal. The Constitution also says that you have to have reasonable cause to search private citizens, yet we have DUI check points that stop everyone who passes.

I'm not saying it would be right, I am just saying that it would happen. And Ugly, I get what you are saying about assassinations, but I really think that a kidnapping is worse than just killing them. With death, there is closure. A kidnapping makes loved ones worry about what kind of torture the person is going through and if they are still alive. Didn't know taxpayers were paying for it, though. Did Bush's wife have all that? What about Hillary? It would be interesting to know, keep me informed if you do know.

I would assume that the staff of every first lady grew following the lead of Nancy Reagan. She changed the role of the first lady dramatically. The first lady's job now is as a goodwill ambassador or sorts and they often work on non-political projects. Nancy's was the "just say no" anti-drug program that was adopted pretty much nationwide. Hillary took the role and expanded it even more. Gone are the days of the first lady who simply has tea parties in the rose garden.

    This is a complete non-story.

Then how do you explain the Korean War, Viet Nam War, First Gulf War, and the curernt Iraq and Afghan conlficts. The president has power as commander in chief to use US military forces.

If a state sponsored terrorists organization tried to assasinate the First Lady, it would be an act of war and I would expect the US to retatliate.
If some nutjob goes after her, it would be hard to start a global war.

As far as her staff, she is a public person who is an extension of the President and his policies so I think she needs a small staff.

THe story is not that she has a staff but how large the staff is and how much it costs. I dont care about her having a staff, but do we need to pay extra for her to have her hair done? Why cant she pay for that herself.
