    Default Political Spin

Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher in southern California , was doing some personal work on her own family tree. She discovered that Congressman Harry Reid's great-great uncle, Remus Reid, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889. Both Judy and Harry Reid share this common ancestor.

The only known photograph of Remus shows him standing on the gallows in Montana territory:

On the back of the picture Judy obtained during her research is this inscription: 'Remus Reid, horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1885, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.'

So Judy recently e-mailed Congressman Harry Reid for information about their great-great uncle.

    Harry Reid:

Believe it or not, Harry Reid's staff sent back the following biographical sketch for her genealogy research:

"Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory .. His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings with the railroad. In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Remus passed away during an important civic function held in his honor when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed."

Only a politician can spin it that well.

LOL! Gotta love spin. It's a good story, but not a true one, according to Snopes.com.

It did make me laugh though.

that is completely false. Not sure what was worse: that people cared about an ancestor that old, or the fact people think that press release was real.

Talk about bluebirds. A unique story which probably inflicted a little grin and you bluebirds have to Snopes it and send it down the toilet. Does it really matter if it is not true? The gist is the spinster talent.

What does bluebirds mean? The "spin" doesn't even exist if nobody even tried to spin it. For all we know GOP people wrote a horrible spin just to get the base riled up(case and point, RYou)

    Dude, who gives a shit.

I betcha if one of your like-minded pals sent you an e-mail that said Obama's dad was seen with pigs flying out of his ass you would jump on here and start another pathetically stupid thread where you make a complete fool of yourself.

People like you should be banned from access to e-mail

wuw - Take your freakin' Obama shiite and stuff it up that thing you call a rump. If you weren't so brain washed by the master of spin, maybe you'd find the humor in something completely unpolitical. But no Libs, can't find humor outside their personal politicing. Don't like what you're reading, too freakin' bad, just pass on it.

Wow. Lump 'em all together and dis 'em all. Did I not say that I thought it was funny? You got your knickers in a knot because your story wasn't true and other people didn't appreciate Reid being defamed that way.
I ususally DO pass on a thread when I don't like what I read. What I dislike the most though, is that so many of these threads devolve into total bitchiness!
