Should Michael Vick be Suspended from NFL?

I know sports media is playing this to death, but some of us might be sick of hearing Michael Irvin tell us how it is. Here's a chance for FanForLife's "average sports fan" to have a say.

Vick has been indicted (I will avoid comparisons to the Duke Lacrosse case here--oops, cat's already out of the bag) on a federal charge for cruelty to animals (or something like that). In any case, it sounds like it is a serious charge.

At this time, should he be suspended from play because he's been indicted?
Or, should suspension wait until the NFL's independent investigation is complete (if wrong is found)?
Or, should he be suspended only if he is convicted of a crime?

Why?

I think the options are too limited. Anyways, he should be suspended if his relationship with dog fighting is shown to be even minuscule per the Personal Code of Conduct. I think this relationship has been shown sufficiently but the PI that Goodell (sp?) hired can (will) do this more thoroughly.

I personally think he should be banned from the NFL if the charges are upheld in court. Hopefully Tom Garner and all the other *******s breeding game dogs for "weight pulling" get caught up in this too.

Seriously, I believe in innocent until proven guilty, but it looks like that does not matter in the case of the NFL's conduct policy. Which I am fine with, it's their league, their rules.

However, I don't think this is like the Duke case. In this case, the accusers are federal investigators, not a stripper with a shady past. In this aspect, the allegations should hold more weight.

At this point, I think the league should force Vick to take a leave of absence and if he doesn't, suspend him until the case is resolved. And if he is found guilty, I like quick's suggestion.

It is the same as the Duke case in that there is an indictment (prosecutor only presentment of evidence) and not a trial. However, you make a good point that it is presumably based on an full investigation rather than one person's testimony. Still, no guilt has been established.

What I meant was that the evidence should be a little more watertight considering where it's coming from.

2008 isn't a year, my HS record was 200-8.

Actually I will graduate in 2008, and actually my friend came up with the name over on that other site, which is kinda weird since he'll graduate in December 07.

There was no evidence in the Duke case. There are dead dogs buried on Vick's property, and there are a multitude of witnesses.

A federal indictment is usually more airtight than an indictment made by a crooked DA and a skank stripper.

Just sayin.

Vick can and should be suspended pending the outcome of this investigation. Like Nuts pointed out there is a bunch of evidence that we know about and probably more to come. Roger Goodell told Vick that he was accountable for who he chooses to associate with and would be held accountable.

If Vick is guilty I say make him and another person who fights dogs fight to the death and then kill Vick after because he is useless for further fights. Or beether yet put Vick on one of those rape stands. Either way as a dog owner and lover I could just as easily watch Vick hang for this, would not mind pulling the lever myself if he is guilty.
