I'm much more interested in listening to the far fringe of each side of the political spectrum here go batshit about it, than the fact that he won the award.
That was my first reaction when I woke up and read it.

Very interesting to realize that today's announcement was less than 24 hours after the University of Minnesota conducted a memorial service for 1970 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Norman Borlaug, who passed away in September at age 95.

One of the featured speakers at the service was J Robinson, a friend of Borlaug's, who wrestled for the Golden Gophers in the late 1930s and was freshman coach while in grad school. (One of Borlaug's college opponents was future Iowa State coach Harold Nichols, originally a teammate at Cresco (Iowa) High, wrestling for the University of Michigan.) J Rob's speech was rich with wonderful stories and true emotion. The coach lost a friend of nearly a quarter-century.

It clearly suggests the nominees this year were not up to par. His work so far is not on a par with past recipients.

Or, maybe they got the word that Obama is going to encourage Afghanistan to allow the Taliban to participate in the government.

Curious, does anyone know a Nobel can be rescinded? The vote can be a bit of a suggestion to not start anything new, or we'll....

I'm with Jensen-it's going to be real entertaining watching the republicans (most are far-right these days) pop blood vessel's.

Other than that, I could care less about the award.

I couldn't agree more. In fact I'm shocked that he only got one this year, I thought he had Economics in the bag.

Sigh, are you kidding me? Listen, I think this is just a dumb story, but to compare Barack Obama to Martin Luther King Jr. is ridiculous. He hasn't done have of what Dr. King did.

In some ways Obama's done more. You could say all King did was make speeches. He led a lot of people, but he had to rely on others to actually change the laws because he did not have an official role in government.
