    That's not right. Nominations are in Feb, but the actual voting is in October.

    February ? Deadline for submission. The Committee bases its assessment on nominations that must be postmarked no later than 1 February each year. Nominations postmarked and received after this date are included in the following year's discussions. In recent years, the Committee has received close to 200 different nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize. The number of nominating letters is much higher, as many are for the same candidates.
    What had he done by 2/1 to be nominated? I just can't make sense of it.

    Good for him? Not sure what to think of it, but it's a nice conversation peace for him.

    Not much. Not being Dubya, and planning to be more diplomatic around the world was what did it, I imagine. I'm an Obama supporter, but this is certainly an odd choice. Again though, it really doesn't make any difference that I can tell.

    No it doesn't. I just find it hard to imagine that a sitting commander in chief who is currently running two wars would get a peace prize.
