Re: Are we Puritans? What the F is wrong with this country...
I have learned in this country NOT to have any physical contact with girls anywhere in the public places unless the girl asks for it (like a hug and stuff).
...the boys, if convicted at an Aug. 20 trial, still face the possibility of some jail time or registering for life as sex offenders...
I'd say that unless they slapped them with their dicks, this is pretty ridiculous. If the act was indeed sexual (like fondling rather than playful slapping), the boys might benefit from counselling, but since when does a juvenile transgression follow you for life?

Thanks to ABC/Disney/ESPN, we're supposed to be outraged and we can draw certain conclusions from facts that are less than certain. I'm sure talk radio is all over this as well.
QS, if I slap you on the ass, and rub your nipples, it's cool right? Any offense you might take is an overraction? Or maybe it's okay so long as the slapees are girls?
The problem, such as it is, seems to be in the possible overreaction of the DA, not the law itself. One, I remind you the facts, including the context of the alleged offense, are less than certain. Two, the punishment (if any) has not been determined.

Well, often at work co-workers ask me to "crack" their backs by lifting them up mainly because I am a big guy and I can lift anyone up. So, if a girl asks me to do it I will. That is what I meant by "stuff".

Yes, American culture has a Puritan element.
Less than certain? Clone the boys were handcuffed, arrested, and spent 5 days in a detention facility. Don't you think that's a bit harsh?
What about a coach who slaps his athletes on the ass? He's sex offender now too?
