1 week, 4 bombers interrupted. New York, Dallas, Illinois, North Carolina

Man arrested for placing fake bomb in Dallas
DALLAS - Federal prosecutors arrested a 19-year-old Jordanian national and charged him with trying to bomb a downtown Dallas skyscraper. He was the second suspect to be arrested this week on charges they intended to blow up buildings.

Feds: N.C. terrorism suspects targeted military

Men accused of plotting to attack and kill personnel at Marine base
RALEIGH, N.C. - Two North Carolina terrorism suspects plotted to kill U.S. military personnel and one of them obtained maps of a Marine Corps base in Virginia to plan an attack, prosecutors said Thursday.

A superseding indictment returned against Daniel Patrick Boyd and Hysen Sherifi is the first time authorities have said the homegrown terrorism ring had specific targets. Prosecutors said Boyd "undertook reconnaissance" of the base, about 30 miles south of Washington.

Investigators Still Hunting for Bomb Materials of N.Y. Terror Suspect, Officials Say
Federal authorities have accused Afghan-American terror suspect Najibullah Zazi of purchasing chemicals and equipment used to make homemade explosives, the same materials used in the 2005 bombings of London's subway and bus system, according to court documents made public on Thursday.

But, NEWSWEEK has learned, investigators have not yet recovered all the explosives components they accuse Zazi of purchasing. Two counterterrorism officials close to the investigation said recovery of the materials was part of the "ongoing investigation."

In the Illinois case, a 29-year-old man who idolized American-born Taliban soldier John Walker Lindh was arrested after attempting to detonate what he thought was a bomb inside a van outside a federal courthouse, officials said.

Michael C. Finton, also known as Talib Islam, was arrested and charged in a criminal complaint with one count of attempting to murder federal officers or employees and trying to detonate a weapon of mass destruction.

I believe he's the guy indicted in New York.

NEW YORK - An Afghan immigrant who received explosives training from al-Qaida went from one beauty supply store to another, buying up large quantities of hydrogen peroxide and nail-polish remover, in a chilling plot to build bombs for attacks on U.S. soil, authorities charged Thursday.

Najibullah Zazi, a 24-year-old shuttle driver at the Denver airport, was indicted in New York on charges of conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction. Investigators said they found bomb-making instructions on his computer's hard drive and said Zazi used a hotel room in Colorado to try to cook up explosives a few weeks ago before a trip to New York.

They've already announced heavy police security on the rails this weekend, pat downs for all going into the football games, mucho security all over the area.

FWIW, if they were even a little smart all they would have to do is what those crazies around DC did a few years back.... send out some snipers, but do so in a scattered national way, get a few kills, and take credit. That would bring the country to it's knees. They could even take credit for a lot of serial stuff they have nothing to do with.

Oddly they know this, and haven't done so. It must be against some sort of religious morals they have. Weird, but good for us.

I don't think anyone is terrorized, since who the heck collects this information other than the feds. It just happened four articles popped into view.

What the question infers, given four separate discoveries; what are they missing? I mean they're good but I don't think they're perfect at 4 for 4; maybe 4 for 10, or 4 for 15.

As for your national sniper scenario, it's totally out of the question. With so much gun violence nationally, it would hardly receive attention. It hit the news in VA because it was close to to DC and where all of the pols reside.

Could be that instead of entire cells being called to task, it's one member at a time, geographically spread. That way they don't lose the entire cell.

At least 2 of them were sting operations, so it's not like they uncovered 4 seperate plots in a few days. 2 of the plots were planned entirely by the Feds.

No way, all they would have to do is kill randomly 3-4 people in say 10 different areas near big media.... LA, Atlanta, NY, Chicago, etc... make continued threats known to the 24/7 news medias; who would be all over that like white on rice, and you'd have a frenzy.
