As my dads friend says maybe americas problem is that we never been invaded. In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgia's, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace, what did they produce? The cuckoo clock.
I know that you want peace, hell we all want peace. Nobody wants to go to war or send their loved ones off to fight on a foreign land. We dont want to send them to fight in our own back yard. But life is life and our nature is to have war. War might never be justified in some persons eyes but to others the sacrifices are worth while. When WWII was over and the world was at peace I think that it was worth it. The alternative would have been the growth of Nazi Germany to the greatest power in the world and the end to almost every Jew in Europe. Without the American revolution we would be that country that France and England fought over for the next 50 years with no say in our own future. Was the Civil war not worth fighting, or how about the French revolution. Should the Saxons not have stood up to the Romans. Are we to appease every leader who wants expansion. Should we simply turn our head when it is someone else's turn to rule even if it means we are enslaved?
I dont like war but I will fight as many have before me in order to protect this nation and our way of life. Not because I want to do it but because on occasion it has got to be done. If you dont like it go to Switzerland and see how it goes, until someone decides they like that land.
