Maybe they'll have him tell a joke on the Senate floor as part of his initiation to the old club.

Congrats to Franken, but man, this doesn't make much sense to me. Celebrities, far more often then not, don't belong in political office. And yes, I felt the same way about the Governator.

I listened to Jesse Ventura and on some issues, he mad much more sense than politicians did.

To me nothing is more corrupting than these two terms in the same sentence: career politician
Your ignorance is painful to witness.....

But it happens all the time. And think, if Dan Gable were to run for office (which he once contemplated) might you not feel the urge to vote for him?

I'd definitely be more likely to listen to what he had to say, but I still vote based on policies, not who the person is. I'm not in Minnesota, but what I saw from Franken wasn't very promising, but it's not my state. The people of that state have spoken.

BnR, I understand what you're saying in terms of career politicians, and I don't think your thought process is without merit. However, I find that more often then not, these poli-celebrities only have superficial understanding of complex issues.
