If they needed physical evidence then I would say they never believed in the first place. Remember after Jesus was resurrected he appeared to Thomas and Thomas who doubted Christ stuck his finger in the spear wound in Jesus's side. Jesus told Thomas that he was blessed because he had seen the resurrection but he also said to Thomas, those who have not seen yet still believe are more blessed.

When you ask if atheistic groups should receive govenment funding, you are asking a loaded question. I don't think that any govenment funding should be spent or a broader platform provided to convince people that atheists are correct in their beliefs, but it should be spent protecting their rights, the same as it should be spent protecting the rights of Catholics, Jews and Muslims.

Or more briefly put, the government should protect everyone's rights to their beliefs, but not promote or endorse any belief system.

    An aside/hijack/tangent:

"Jesus told Thomas that he was blessed because he had seen the resurrection but he also said to Thomas, those who have not seen yet still believe are more blessed."

Yes! This is why I keep saying that science and religion can coexist and can never prove or disprove one another. Faith is the cornerstone of religion, observed data is the cornerstone of science.

And your emotion vs. logic example applies as well.

I agree completely Spider. I believe Ben Franklin said something to the tune of , if a religion can not survive without the Government supporting it then what good is that religion.

Emotion sure trumps logic often but only fools let emotion win out over logic. I stay away from people like that.

As Ugly said, what about love? Contrary to what the folks at eHarmony would have you believe, logic has nothing to do with it.

Sure, those long legged beauties that hold hands with old and bald guys in Manhattan sure appeal to emotion. Ha Ha Ha

Its all in the wallet. You have a good bank account and you are respected socially and you got yourself a very logical beauty.
