Default "Duh" newstory of the week

I see a lot of these on yahoo.

Today: Big NFL players have high blood pressure. Duh.

CHICAGO – Supersized pro football players are prone to high blood pressure but fare better on some other health measures than more average-sized men, new NFL-sponsored research shows.

    "Duh" story from yesterday.

Children who don't get vaccinated are 23 times more likely to get whooping cough.

Anyone who(op) doesn't get their kid vaccinated for Whooping Cough is absolutely crazy. I had when I was in 3rd grade. I missed 6weeks of school ( my neighbors brought home my homework 8( ).

Let me tell what it is like. Over 40 years ago and it is one of clearest memories I have. Try to keep coughing over and over and over again, sometimes up to a minute, short little coughs........without inhaling new oxygen. Empty your lungs while coughing until there is nothing left in you, then keep coughing until you're purple in the face.

cough, cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough, cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough

No air, you think you are going to die, you can't take a breath, you can't stop the cough and you involuntarily go into panic mode, kind of like that water boarding video.

    That's cough part.

Then, all of sudden it stops and your system takes a deep gasp for air, the deepest inhale you can muster. While you are taking the inhale, this loud Whoooooooooooooooop comes out. Try inhaling and saying "Whoop" out loud while taking the longest, deepest inhale you possibly can.

Now repeat the experience every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day for about 5 weeks. Yea, even while you are trying to sleep. The worst is when you are out cold lying in bed and it starts while lying down. I would turn over an bury my face in my pillow trying to stop it.

I wouldn't wish the experience on my worst enemy. While it is was bad for me, my family would go into a panic every time it happened. My brother and sister had to move out, they thought I was dying and would burst into tears every night and couldn't get any sleep. Mom, she was cool as cucumber. She knew people that had had it and knew I would shake it eventually. Every time it started she head to the sink and get a cold soaked towel and wipe the sweat from my face as soon as it was over. She knew it had a calming affect.
Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.

That's a hell of a persuasive story. Some people are just too dumb to get it though (the need for vaccinations, not whooping cough). That's why I rail so much against propaganda--because there are people out there selling this kind of drivel (typically for a buck) and it has very real and adverse consequences.
