One great thing in America is that there is no one group of people that are just looked down upon by the majority of people. For example, I know it was a negative factor in Soviet Union to be Jewish. There was that negative vibe about it even if outright discrimination wasn't present. The same issues exist in the Middle East as Jews are perceived negatively in Muslims countries while Muslims or Arabs get a negative vibe, and outright discrimination in some cases, in Israel.
I am sure there are many similar examples in other countries. This does not happen in America on this level. No religion, race or National origin automatically affects the person living in America. You can be from North Korea or Iran and most people will not make fun of you, even though you are not supposed to defend those countries' governments. If you do, it can cost you a career professionally or politically.
But an average person of Iranian or North Korean decent will not be made fun of in America.
