Re: Capitalism for people or people for capitalism? People love to buy things ok. If so, how come we need countless commercials on TV stations, on radio stations, websites, and in newspapers? No ladies and gentlemen, I think often we are groomed and controled to buy so that certain people can profit.
You answered your own question, Big. Why do we find incessant advertising in nearly every sphere of our existence? So we can be groomed to buy (I would use the term conditioned, not controlled).
Numerous examples, but in recent days: (1) crowds lathering over the purchase of an I-phone (or whatever it's called), and the news channels telling us about it; (2) the 4-year old girl who kept dialing 911 and asking for McDonalds; (3) You or I say Bush; someone will automatically say Clinton.
