Since we have spent the summer with remodeling projects, my wife and I decided that we could not afford the time or money for a "real" vacation - so we tried a short "get-away" instead. We just got back from three days in Temecula, CA touring the wineries. (With one morning off for a hot-air balloon trip.) Three days of tasting wines brings satiety! Anybody looking for a short break from it all, I can really recommend this! Not too expensive, a lot of fun, and (ahem) a bit of romance.

If you're looking for a longer break, go to an all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic like I did. It was amazing. They give you a wristband, and then they hand you food and drinks for your entire trip, no payment necessary (since you pay a flat rate up front).

Temecula is great. My wife and I spent a day there.

The wineries were awesome and it's beautiful out there.
