    Default Roid Rage???

I hate to start trouble, but I have to get this off my chest.

With the resent Benoit tragedy, the term "roid rage" has been being thrown around quite a bit.

From my own experiences, roid rage is BS.

I've know a dozen or so guys who used steroids. The cool and laid back guys who took them stayed laid back. The agressive meat heads who took them, stayed aggressive meat heads.

My theory is that the type of person who chooses to take steroids in the first place is usually a little off center and full of himself to begin with.

Its the type of person that is likely to start a fight in a bar or beat up his girl friend with or without steroids.

I think a lot of people blame their behavior on steroids rather than accepting the blame.

I've taken them. Back in the 80's when I attempted bodybuilding. I never acted on my "rage", but dang.... I felt it. More than once I wanted to pick somebody off a machine I needed to use while they were just sittting there chatting.

Afraid not..... in that time the only way to "compete" in bodybuilding was to do what the rest were doing. The OL guy trying to make the pro's in football.... he is trying to make the pro's. If he is on the bubble and is not using them, and an equally talented person is using them, that guy makes the show. The same goes for any sport.... especially if it is what you have been doing since you can remember, or it is your passion and what drives you, or you are on the cusp of getting to the top. If steroids can give you that little extra edge.... it is pretty enticing. Especially when you are young.

Never beat up a girl friend or wife. I had more fights off of roids than on.... mostly because I was always training. But I think had I gotten into a fight the rage would have been a very very bad thing.

That is an aspect to be sure. But don't tell me about roid rage. I felt it. I did not like myself, and was actually a little worried about what I might do. I gave up bodybuilding (thankfully I didn't really have the genetics to be top tier or I might have continued on) because of the way I felt. It was not a nice place to be mentally.

I hope that he changed his mind just after he strung himself up. He deserved to die struggling to get the rope off of his neck, just so that he could feel the same panic and terror that his wife and son felt.
