michigan calls it pop, new york, florida and california call it soda. can't speak for the rest of the country. but i stick to beer anyway to avoid the confusion.

The map is cool, especially as I'm from Wisconsin...the state is split right down the middle. I have always lived on the "pop" side so thats what I call it...I also call it a drinking/water fountain-NOT a bubbler-is that one an issue anywhere else?

Pop. Soda is a drink served with ice cream.

Then there's folks who call it soda pop, which is always a refreshing beverage to enjoy after watching your team rack up some pinfalls. (Couldn't resist!) ;-)

My father calls it Tonic. Sounded normal to me growing up, now it think it sounds bizarre.

I call it pop. My kids think it's water. When I was a kid, you never helped yourself to a pop. We only had it maybe on a Friday or Saturday night as a special treat. My mom would buy a carton of 8 bottles for a family of 9 and it would last for 2 weeks.

It is amazing how much "pop" kids drink today. It was a treat for my family.
