I tend to think that the people actually playing a bit more important. I think the current Mets team would fare better in an empty stadium vs. any other team than a packed house would w/ nobody on the field.

Sean - I'm pretty sure Alou is out for the season. I have no faith in Schoenweis either, but I think Heilman has been better as of late. I also think Manuel defining roles in the bullpen is helping. All closers have hiccups and numbers-wise Wagner's hiccups are not bad - the problem I see with him is that he seems to have those hiccups in big situations. So, it can be hard to have confidence in him when the season is on the line.

As a die hard Cardinals fan, let me say that I believe Albert Pujols to be far more important than the fans. In the last 8 years, AP has 300 HRs, fans have 0.

I believe Adolf is going with the angle that if the fans did not attend the games or watch on tv there would be no games played.

And if there were no players to play the games, the games would be played?

Negative. But the fans have an undeniable effect on the game. There's a reason that teams in all sports tend to win more when they're "at home".

Not my argument, just saying thats what I think he is saying. In the end you can put the best fans in the world with a terrible group of players who dont get along and they will lose.

That's not necessarily a reflection on fan input though. There's something to be said for familiarity with your surroundings, schedule, travel, etc., too., that helps teams playing at home.

Agreed. Either way the fans are not the most important, and fans are not part of the team.
