Sean - I'm pretty sure Alou is out for the season. I have no faith in Schoenweis either, but I think Heilman has been better as of late. I also think Manuel defining roles in the bullpen is helping. All closers have hiccups and numbers-wise Wagner's hiccups are not bad - the problem I see with him is that he seems to have those hiccups in big situations. So, it can be hard to have confidence in him when the season is on the line.

As a die hard Cardinals fan, let me say that I believe Albert Pujols to be far more important than the fans. In the last 8 years, AP has 300 HRs, fans have 0.

There's something to be said for familiarity with your surroundings, schedule, travel, etc., too., that helps teams playing at home.

Either way the fans are not the most important, and fans are not part of the team.

The mets just lack the toughness and the heart to pull this out. They have a ton of talent but the scrappy more grittier phils are too much. |
