Read both as well, Bouton's when it was published, then Pennant Race much later. I thought former Michigan Wolverine Bill Freehan's Behind the Mask was also as or more telling then the other two as far as drug stories. BTW, Freehan's roomie the year the book was penned (1969) was former Ohio State quarterback and Tiger starting pitcher Joe Sparma, proving that Wolverines and Buckeyes can co-exist peacefully.

I read his last work as well the Wall fence something-it was an actual foray into his life and how building this cobblestone fence had help him get his life back-along the lines of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance-about a washed up fastball pitcher who threw his arm out and learned the Knuckler .

The novel was entitled Strike Zone-sorry Mr. Bouton

Well at least Feb to October. I'd hate to those two in the same room around Thanksgiving.

I'm part of the group that'll watch as much as I can. I hate that the U.S. coverage is either only when the U.S. is expected to win, or when they have already planned a "human interest story" for some eastern european or chinese kid who was taken from their parents to train for this moment in time.

That's why I glad I got at&t-u for my cable. I can record up to 4 different things at the same time and they have an Olympics on demand section so I can watch whatever I want at any time. I'll be skipping all the sappy stuff so I can maximize my actual sports watching time.

I don't like reality shows and I don't like tv drama. My definition of both of those things is athletic competition. It actually is real and it has it's own drama. That's all I need.

What I'll hate about our wrestling coverage will be complete lack of coverage of the Russians. Look on nbcolympics.com and notice that not a single Russian wrestler has a bio. If I'm watching wrestling, I want to watch the best. Which means, not as much of the U.S. and more of the Russians. I'll be rooting for the U.S. but I'm more entertained by great wrestling.
