Had it last night too, my favorite - Steamed Dumplings and Firecracker Shrimp. No delivery here as well.

Have delivery and love it. Usually an egg roll, fried rice, boneless spare ribs, chicken with broccoli.

How about sushi? You guys like sushi?

We eat Chinese daily and its hard to play favorites. Day-to-day meals I enjoy eating bai zi, various lamb dishes, croaker, dumplings, some tofu dishes and fresh made sweetened soymilk, but I especially like a fried spicy chicken (too American as I'm told). Off the not-so-often menu would be Beijing style duck, blue crab(!!!!!!!), clams with butter, garlic, hot pepper, and onion (with Tsingtao). Oh, I forgot to add shark fin soup! For snacks, just some cool lychee, cut watermelon, Tianjin pears and fresh cut tomatos with raw sugar.

There's a couple dessert dishes that I like very much but don't know the name. It's fresh fruit served along with a heated bowl of hot caramelized sugar. You then dip the fruit slice into the hot sugar then immediately plunge it into the ice water which turns it into a crispy shell. Now that is delicious!!!!!

Spider, I (we) enjoy both sushi and sashimi: Yellow tail, tuna, salmon, but particularly eel. Finding a good restaurant is important. We have one nearby that fly the fish in alive. No substitute for freshness and good safe eating.

Do you eat it with the ginger and soy? Whether it is true or not, but I have been told by sushi chefs (in China and Japan) the combination helps destroy any possible remaining impurities. I don't know if this is a "kitchen tale", but like the old saying goes, "when in Japan, eat like the Japanese."

Contini what is on your list?

I'm guessing Mojo's favorite would be Cowboy Chicken?

Steamed Dumplings, Good General, Egg Drop Soup (picky about this), and an Egg Roll... I can eat that for like 2 days.

Yes. I mix soy sauce and wasabi and dip the sushi into it. I eat the ginger afterwards to cleanse the palate.

Funny story: when I was in the Dominican Republic last month, we went to a Japanese restaurant. When my sushi arrived, I poured some soy sauce into the little dish next to me on the table and mixed in the wasabi. Shortly after I began eating, the waiter rushed over and, referring to my dipping bowl, said, "Oh, sir, that's the candle holder." He then brought me an appropriate bowl. He was embarrassed for me, but I thought it was a riot.

That made me laugh. Good story Spider.

I have one involving a truly innocent Chinese/English translation mistake but I'd better "pm" as this is a familar board.

My wife and I eat Chinese and sushi once a week. In New York City there is a sushi restaurant on just about every corner. There is a great Chinese place across the street from us called, appropriately, China Fun. It is excellent. We usually get some Dim Sum like the pan fried chicken dumplings, sui mai, crystal shrimp, then spare ribs (or roast pork -- it's a big plate of meat), sauteed string beans with chicken and/or shrimp, egg drop wonton soup, and some rice or noodle dish. They have this fried rice with chinese sausage which is awesome. wash it down with a coke.

they also have sushi there and sometimes i get a few pieces with the Chinese - maguro (tuna), toro (fatty tuna), ebi (shrimp), hamachi (yellowtail), and kani (crab stick). My wife likes the tamago (egg omelette).

There is a great sushi retaurant close by called Ko. Probably some of the best rolls I've had in the city. Very creative. They have this roll called Mamenori which is king crab and shrimp with avocado wrapped in this yellow soy paper. I usually order 2.

Hey quick, your wife must be a big person to help you eat all that.

Roast Pork? I thought that was against Jewish religion?
