LOS ANGELES -- The wife of the city's top prosecutor has an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear in court nine years ago on charges of driving without insurance, with a suspended license and in an unregistered car.

City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo got Paris Hilton jailed for violating probation for driving with a suspended license, then condemned her early release. Now, he says he's embarrassed about the outstanding bench warrant for his wife, Michelle, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.

Will Mrs. Delgadillo and Ms. Hilton be sharing a cell?

There are differences though. His wife was never aware that her license was suspended and his wife was not on probation for a suspended license. Also, his wife wasn't driving drunk.

Hilton went to jail for violating a probation not for driving with suspended license.

How can you not be aware that your driver's license is suspended?

You're never aware of it until you get pulled over -- sometimes the notices don't arrive, get lost in the mail, or something like that.

I remember freaking out when I got pulled for speeding in Va. Beach a few years ago and then the officer says "Anything you want to tell me about your license?"

Yeah, I ended up walking 2 miles in 20 degree weather just to get to where I was going.

I know first hand it's possible to not know your license was suspended, insurance drops you, etc.

What makes you think they send a notice ? When a judge makes a revocation for failure to appear, they likely won't tell you the license has been suspended. Here in NJ, they will suspend you for not paying a parking ticket and they won't notify you. You find out when someone pulls you over, tells you and they impound the car. It's all part of the penalty - motivation to not be a scofflaw.

EXALT for using the word "scoflaw" on a wrestling forum. Kudos!
Those of you who think you know it all really annoy those of us who actually do ;)
