| Herbert DEC Askren 5-4 ![]() | Lets hear your thoughts. I find myself wanting to be in the camp that thinks his "flip-flop on retiring" is a bit obnoxious. I think I'm wrong here though. The guy wants to play football. I mean, he really likes to play the game. He was still a top tier QB last year. Sure.....the guy lives and dies by heroic plays and stupid interceptions....but he's still a really good quarterback who took his team to the NFC Championship game last year. So....being that he is capable to perform at the highest level still....he belongs in the league if he wants to play. That being said, he still went back on his word. The Packers made a decision to move forward with Aaron Rodgers. They agreed to Favre's return on the condition that he would be a back up. The Packers fulfilled their obligation. Dumb strategy if you want to win, but they're off the hook. They could however release Favre. He drastically increased the value of the Packers franchise, and if he wants to mark up his legacy, let him do it. Thoughts?

All it takes is a bell ringer. I'd hate to see him Tittle'd. ![]() All it takes is a hit on the side of the knee. I'd hate to see him Joe Theismann'd at this point in his career.

| The Velour Fog ![]() | Brett Favre is synonymous with the Green Bay Packers, on the same level as Vince Lombardi. He's earned the right to keep playing. Favre tried to let Green Bay off the hook, knowing that he kind of put them in a tough position. He asked them to release him, giving them the out that they didn't want him to leave, he wanted to leave. They didn't take it, and now they're going to look like d-bags. You don't mess with people on this level of greatness.

The Pitt defensive lineman that put Mr. Tittle into that postion (Brown, Baker, something that started with a B) later ran for shariff in some small town in North Carolina. His successful election was in part because of his posters, showing that photo, with the caption, "Do wrong, and this is what Big John will do to you!" About a year after Theisman got hit I had the opportunity to compete against him in a trap shoot (whipped his a$$, too!) and have a little carbonated beverage afterwards. At that time the press was full of "will he or won't he come back". He said that he would'nt/couldn't come back, but the longer he held off with the announcement, the longer his name stayed in the papers - which had a financial benefit for him. He was a good shooter (ahem, I whipped his a$$!), a better story-teller, and a GREAT carbonated beverage drinker.
