You guys are totally wrong here. This judge is grandstanding. Check his sentencing record. Paris got the stiffest sentence anyone ever recieved from him for similar offenses. No one besides her would ever have set foot in a jail for this.
It's totally absurd that people have so much spite and hatred for a little insignifcant girl who's done nothing but be hot and stupid, yet they are willing to give lying, cheating politicians a free pass. so sad.
but hey, we can all rest a little easier tonight cuz Paris Hilton is in The Clink. gimme a break

Her parents have failed her and she needs a slap in the mouth and for people to treat her like everyone else not some pompas princess.

Ha Ha Ha I don't think I've ever posted on here about giving a pass to lying, cheating politicians... as I've mentioned before, I worked for the Public Defenders Office, and I was merely stating that I've seen dozens upon dozens of people go to jail that need medical attention and never receive it- she has a slight mental breakdown and gets a 'get out of jail' pass.
She was sentenced by a judge to do time in jail (right or wrong, she was sentenced)- she was arrested for DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE and then caught driving 3 more times for driving without a license, simply because she thought it was ok? I'm sorry, but I think the judge was correct in sentencing her to jail time, otherwise, she would still be driving... I'm sure if she happened to kill someone while driving with a suspended license because she didn't go to jail everyone would be saying, "she should've went to jail that time... blah blah blah."
Jail is used as a deterrent to crime- maybe next time she thinks about getting into a car drunk or even without a license she'll remember her trip to "The Clink" and it will deter her from driving.

I didn't mean you individually as far as giving a pass goes, but to say anyone else would not have gotten a sentencing break is completely innaccurate
This is a media generated story complicated by a publicity inclined judge trying to make a name for himself

But Loudmouth Joe can't pass up an opportunity to put himself in front of the camera telling everyone what a great job he is doing. If he is so tough on crime, and his jails are so miserable, why has the rate of repeat offenders increased every year in Maricopa county since 2001?
The guy is just pathetic.

This is a media generated story complicated by a publicity inclined judge trying to make a name for himself | I don't disagree with you about the judge- he most likely is trying to make a name for himself and I definitely think he's trying to make an example out of her, but making an example out of her is fine with me... I saw a piece the other morning on Good Morning America asking little girls if they looked up to her anymore and the answer was that she's no longer a role model (not that I thought she should've been in the first place). I think the young girls of today need to focus on other things, rather than just " being a hot chick" and getting out of trouble simply because they look good.

Sheriff Joe is a publicity hound but there is no denying that he is a tough Sheriff and he gives the people of Maricopa what they want in a Sheriff.
Also I would say that the conditions of the detention facility are not a major deterant to crime. Most criminals commit crime with the mind set of not being caught. If the conditions were a major factor crime would be going down in states like texas that have some of the toughest penalties in the nation. The fact is as the city grow so does the crime rate and when you are a border state with high illegal immigration then it rises faster. Not because illegal immigrants are criminals (they are) and causing more crime. But when you had to the population of poverty in a county or city the rates will rise. Thats just the way it works.

I've read the medical "issues" was thee fact she refused the use the toioet in the room with no door and a clear view from a window to the guard office. She was afraid someone was going to photo her on the crapper adn shoot it to the net.
Gotta admit that's an original.

But probably a valid fear considering what the tabloids would pay for such a photo.
