    Just got a pair of Asics for $60 so I'm pretty happy.

    Nike originated from Onitsuka (Tiger). Knight and Bowerman (Oregon's track coach) used to distribute Tiger shoes in the US but broke away from them. The first Nike shoes were almost direct copies of Tiger.

    And yeah, I had a pair of the old Waffle Trainers by Nike "back in the day."
