Tonight Ken Griffey Jr of the Cincinnati Reds hit the 600th home run of his career vs the Florida Marlins in Miami. Griffey becomes only the sixth man to achieve this milestone...

YESSSSSSSSS!!!!! Griffey's been my favorite player for as long as I can remember. It's just too bad he's been fighting injuries since he got into Cincy because I'm pretty confident if would have been healthy for most of that time he would have had no problem getting the home run record.

Re: Griffey Gets #600
One of the most complete players I've ever watched.
Incredible in the field and always went flat out for any ball hit in the air with no regard for his body (witness the broken wrist).
Beautiful swing and could hit for power as well as average. Back when he was in Seattle, I always thought he was the one player who had the ability to get a triple crown of hitting.
And thank goodness, not a single sniff of him every being tainted by the steroid era.
Watching him play along side his dad was one of the coolest things ever in professional sports.

And the coolest thing ever in sports was when they hit back to back home runs.

no doubt.....I did that with my dad on out church softball team and I thought it was pretty cool. I can't imagine how that must have been for the two of them. Amazing.

Re: Griffey Gets #600
The thing I like about Griffey is that he loves the game and it shows. Even if you don't like the team he is playing on you find yourself cheering for him.
I wish there were more players in today's game that had his same attitude.

Re: Griffey Gets #600
I was a huge baseball fan going up and Griffey was always one of my favorites. He made everything look so effortless. Baseball more than any sport values numbers, but if you ask most people who the best player of the 90's was, more often than not Griffey is the answer. Bonds and McGwire can have all the HR's and the headaches they've not gotten from them, Jr. was the man.
There was also a short period of time where his brother Craig played with him too, I think Sr. was still around. I'm pretty sure I had a baseball card w/ all three of them.
He let himself down, for what...a woman. I say, go be a world champion let the women come to you......Tito Ortiz
