Patton's attitude of ,
hey, i'll show up , do the best I can and to hell with the judges is what sports should be about .
Do the best you can and hope fortune is with you ,if so , great , if not , don't piss and moan about it . Carry on. | | |

When asked to comment about this all Paton said was ''one of my bullets must have gone through the same hole .'' The spirit of these games , at least in the miltary aspect should not nor shall be marred by petty squabling.''
his shooting scores were 10-10-10-10-10-9-9-10-0-10-10-10- do you think he completely missed a target or a bullet went through the same hole -in the 4000 meters he finished third as he hit the ''wall' with 50 meters left and walked across and passed out .
The more I read of this man the more impressed I am . | I suspect you meant Pentathlon and not decathalon.

Patton's mom rips the judge, the coach and anyone associated.
She didn't pay big bucks to send George the pentathlon camp, buy him the world's best equipment, hire a private tutor, and send him to a sports pyscologist just he so could get 2nd place.
After all...they may have just cost George a scholarship!

The ones who show up at the gym every weekend at 5AM to help drive a load of kids to tourneys. The ones who come up at the end of the season, or at graduation, and thank the coaches for what they have done for the kids. And, while we are at it, let's not forget those two young ladies from Central Washington State who picked up their fallen opponent and carried her around the bases.
Sometimes I think it is too easy for me to get caught up in the negativity of the world around us. I have spent the last couple of years actively seeking the positive. This one change in my life has made a huge difference in my personal happiness.
