I guess this explains where Poison and Whitesnake are. Who are the donks that put these lists together, seriously?

So, that other list was supposed to be the "good" bands?

I guess that explains some of those on that list, but then those were the bands that weren't really "hair bands".

Plain and simple the eighties was one of the worst era's for popular music followed by the early 90's. Aside some of the great punk music of that era and a few great metal and rock bands the music sucked. The majority of one hit wonders I can think of come from the eighties. So there we have it the eighties almost a completely worthless decade for fashion and music.

I guess I have to agree with this guy...all of these bands sucked,

except maybe for early Whitesnake. (The album with Slide It In)

I will have to disagree, in part, with that statement. The 80s and the 90s gave us some wonderful music, although some of it might not be construed as "popular":

80s (to name but a few):
* Pixies
* U2
* REM
* Joy Division
* Metallica
* Police

90s:
* Nirvana
* Blur
* A Tribe Called Quest
* Radiohead
* Wilco
* Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg

As for the "one-hit wonders" of those decades, we'll see where Jermaine Dupree, Chris Brown, Tokio Hotel, any American Idol product, Pussycat Dolls, Avril Lavigne, Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Timbaland and any number of the modern crap is in 20 years...

Of your list I would agree with Nirvana, Metallica, U2. I dont think all of the music sucked just 90% of it.

Extreme and Dokken shouldn't be on this list. Nuno Bettencourt and George Lynch were two of the best rock guitarists of the 80's/90's.

Extreme is actually making a comeback, and is just finishing a new album. They are going to tour with King's X, one of the most underrated rock bands of all time.

I could look up dozens of one hit wonders and dozens of terrible songs that were hits on the charts from any decade in the last 5.

Yes, the 80's had some complete crap, but so did every other decade.

I'm as big of a 60's and 70's rock fan as you'll find, but even I can admit that there was as much if not more crap than quality.

I've been pretty far removed from what's considered "popular" music for the last 8 or 10 years, so I'd be tempted to say the same as you about the late 90's and 2000's, but there is good music out there. You just have to look harder to find it in an industry dominated by hip hop.
