I heard its 30 cents per gallon in Iran. I also heard some cars get 60 miles per gallon. Those cars are not sold in America.

Where I work in Kuwait, on the KOC Oilfield Compound, we pay US$.56 per gallon of premium gas.

That is misleading just like jpv's statistics. I think average Russian salary is $500 per month. So, $2.10 there is like $8 here. However, many people there either don't drive and take public transportation, have motorcycles and mopeds, or have cars that get a high mileage per gallon.

Which of my statistics are misleading, Big? This I'd like to read.
Anyway, here in Russia, I pay 26 rubles/liter for gas. That would be roughly 99 rubles to the gallon. The ruble is at about 23.5 to the dollar. So, gas is about $4.21 a gallon here by my calculations.
Very few people in Vladivostok use mopeds or motorcycles because of the weather and the state of the roads (state=awful). Most people who can afford cars here have SUVs, which aren't exactly famous for great gas mileage.

jpv,

Misleading because people don't drive 100 miles each way everyday in Vladivostok and also how much do they pay for rent? In America it can be half of your salary and more.

Its not just how much gas costs but how much money do you have left for gas after everything. I bet health care is free in Vladivostok, schooling is free, childcare is free and so on.

Bottom line is in America driving is a necessity of life for most. In Vladivostok its like flying in America. You do it rarely or none at all and its mostly for pleasure. If you use one gas tank over a month you can afford high prices. Heck, I bet most people in Vladivostok don't even have cars.
