The 06 World Series of Poker championship had some 8700 players anteing 10,000 to play. That means each player started with 10,000 in chips for a total of about 87,000,000 million in play.

At the final table the 9 players started with 91,000,000 at the table. Now the players never leave with their chips. You leave them on the table at the end of the day and the house counts and records your winnings. On the next day your chips are placed at your assigned seat.

Well, if there was 87 mil at the start, how did 4 mil more enter the game ?

I can't believe they wouldn't total the chips in play each night. So, at least they should know which day it happened if nothing else.

Good point Champ, but they don't round up enough to make that much of a difference. I'm pretty sure this controversy has been around for quite some time now though, I remember hearing about it last year.

It doesn't really work like that though. They do a thing called "racing off" for the extra chips, which doesn't really result in much of a change. I'd try to explain it but wikipedia does a lot better job.

My guess would be that somebody did cheat.

We're talking alittle under 5% of the total chips in play. I think that is a significant number, particularly if there is a little, no alot, of cheating behind it.

If someone is bringing in $2,000,000 in chips, that is significant enough to impact the outcome.
