By "off campus," I simply meant outside the resort. Yes, there is much poverty outside the resort areas, but I am fortunate enought to have a good job and be able to afford a vacation like this one. I make no apologies. This resort provides many relatively well paying jobs for locals, and unless someone is willing to donate most of his earnings to the poor and live a life of austerity, he is being a hypocrite when he criticizes my lifestyle.

I respect you a lot and I would never accuse you personally of any such thing. You earn your money honestly and you enjoy your vacation as you should. If anything, I was criticizing the system, not any particular individual.

Also, I hope you understand that your life was at least partially a matter of the circumstance that you were born in America where opportunities existed to get education and a good career. Many people in Dominican Republic, some I am sure smart people, are not so fortunate. That is what I was trying to get at.

Big, I respect you as well, and was careful to point out in my post above that I do consider myself very fortunate to be in the circumstance that I am. I can't fix the problems of the world, but I do what I can to help little by little.
