    Default Big is Small

So, I go into "XL Casual Male" store. I am supposed to be a big guy. I try on some shirts. They have sizes from 1X to 5X. My size turns out to be 1X.

    Who wears 5X?

well, see, here's how it works. The sizes on the clothes aren't really the "real" sizes. They tag them smaller sizes to make you feel like you ARE a smaller size, then you want to buy more clothes.

You see it all the time in the "fashionable" stores. Say a woman is a size 10 in the "true" sense of the tag. She goes into the Gap for example, and magically can wear a size 6 in Gap jeans. This makes her feel good about herself "wow, I'm a size 6" so she'll buy the jeans as well as probably some other stuff.

The Magic of Retail. It's a wonderful thing. It also makes it impossible to go into a store and pick out something that fits without taking the exact same item in 3 different sizes into the dressing room.

I think Stardust is on to something. In that store, small is Big.

But whatever they call it, there were 4 sizes bigger than Big!
